How to mitigate hard water spots on your windows.

Our area is notorious for having hard water. The term “Hard Water” means that the water has excessive iron, calcium, magnesium, and even more chemicals and elements. When these elements and chemicals are sprayed, splashed or applied to your windows and glass over an extended period of time you will notice hard water buildup stains. This is most commonly witnessed on a shower door.

You can install a soft water system for your home to help prevent these stains from appearing on your shower door and to produce a cleaner water for your needs. Hard water spotting can be seen on the exterior windows of your home.  This is most often caused from a sprinkler head that is not positioned correctly and allowing the hard water from the irrigation system to be sprayed directly on your windows.  Windows near pools or dog baths are also more susceptible to having hard water staining.

If caught quick enough, most hard water staining can be treated easily and will not leave a permanent stain/spot. If the window has been affected by hard water for an extended period of time, you may not be able to fully remove the hard water spotting.
